If you receive an erasure request from a data subject you must action it within 30 days. When the 30 days elapse, the request will be accepted automatically.
If you are unsure how to appropriately complete a data subjects erasure request please reach out to your Customer Success Manager who can bring you through the required steps and actions.
To Accept an Erasure Request
- Login to your Dataships account via the Control Panel (here):
- Enter your e-mail address in the Email field and click Continue.
- Enter your password in the Password field and click Sign in.
- Click Inbox. It can be found towards the top left of the screen along the menu bar.
- By default, you will be on the Custom Request page. Switch to Erasure Request.
- Under the Pending Requests section, you see all Erasure Requests that are awaiting your action. Click on the Details beside the request you want to view.
- Under the Action Required section, you will see a a button to accept and another to decline the request. Click on the Accept button. The status of this request will change from Received to either Complete or Incomplete.
- Complete - The request has been fulfilled i.e. all personal data associated with the data subject's email address has been deleted (from the apps connected to Dataships).
- Incomplete - The request has been partially fulfilled i.e. all personal data associated with the data subject's email address has been deleted from the apps connected to Dataships but there are other apps which either do not support automatic deletion or the Dataships does not have permission to delete records from that app.
- If the request is still incomplete, come back to this Erasure Requests page after some time (10 minutes). You should see a list of all apps that are connected to Dataships without delete access. You must go into each of these systems and delete the data subjects' personal data from that system manually.
- Once completed in the required systems click the Mark as Done button accordingly in the Control Panel. A popup modal will open requiring your confirmation.
- Continue Steps 6 and 7 until the Erasure Request has no other apps where data needs to be deleted from.
