Dataships contacts can integrate seamlessly into Klaviyo flows, but adjustments are required depending on the setup and the flow’s trigger.
Post Purchase Flow
- If triggered after an order is placed (Placed Order metric), Dataships contacts will automatically flow into this.
- Ensure the flow targets only marketable contacts. Add a filter that includes contacts with the "subscribed" property, which Dataships manages.
Welcome Flow
This flow usually triggers when a person is added to a newsletter list or a master subscriber list so an order is not necessary. To incorporate Dataships contacts, there are a few options:
- Using a Master Segment: Combine Dataships and newsletter lists into a segment and use this as the trigger (Added to Segment) for your existing welcome flow.
- Combine Lists with Flows
- Set up a Klaviyo flow to automatically add users from the Dataships Single Opt-in list to your Klaviyo Subscriber List or Newsletter List.
- Create another flow to do the same for the Dataships Double Opt-in list.
- Then you can use your existing welcome flow as all Dataships contacts will flow through into that list.
- This involves having one flow for Dataships contacts and one flow for all other subscribers.
- The new flow handles Dataships marketable contacts, the store's recent purchasers.
- The original flow remains for newsletter subscribers.
- Depending on how you want to limit Dataships contacts you can choose different Profile Filters. One is to limit the flow only to Profiles that have placed an order zero times all time (see below). Another would be to limit to only Profiles who are not in either Dataships list. Or even to limit to Profiles who have not Received Email from the Dataships flow.
- Assign Dataships marketable contacts to the new flow as shown:
Note: You may want to use the master segment instead:
4. Keep one Welcome Flow: Ensure all contacts sync to your newsletter list by updating your lists that Dataships syncs to in the Control Panel. That way no changes are needed in your flow.- N.B. Double opt in contacts cannot be sent to the newsletter list so you may want to create a flow that adds them as explained above.
