How to collect email marketing consent at Point of Sale using Shopify’s PoS

To collect email consent at the POS please follow the steps below.

 

Complete the purchase as normal via the POS. When you reach the Post Purchase page, ask the customer if they would like to receive an email receipt (if applicable). 

 

If the customer says yes to an email receipt, follow the below:

  1. Click the Email receipt button in the Post Purchase Page and capture the customer’s email address.
  2. While the customer is typing their email address, ask them if they would like to receive email marketing from your store. 
  3. When an email address is entered in the email receipt box, a customer profile is automatically created and added to the order.  Therefore when you go back to the Post Purchase Page, you can click to edit the customer.
  4. On the customer page you can toggle the accepts marketing option depending on their response.

 

If the customer says no to an email receipt, follow the below:

  1. Ask the customer if they would like to receive marketing from your store. If they say yes you can add them as a customer to the order.
  2. Ask the customer for their email address and enter it in the customer profile. 
  3. Once you have added their email address you can toggle the Accepts marketing option to yes
