Setting up Your Klaviyo Welcome Series Flow Using Your New Dataships Lists

Background

You've just onboarded to Dataships and you have 2 new lists in your Klaviyo. You have new contacts being added to these lists and you want to make sure your Welcome Series is working correctly. This guide will illustrate how to create a new segment that can incorporate multiple lists into a single Welcome Series flow and how to set up the flow itself by creating from scratch or by cloning an existing flow.

Create a New Segment to Combine Your Lists

Creating a segment for your new lists is the first step. This segment can also optionally include any existing list you have that you would like to share the same Welcome Series flow. Here is how you do it:

  1. Navigate to Audience > Lists & Segments.
  2. Click on Create List/Segment.
  3. Select Segment.
  4. Now you'll be prompted to define your segment. Set the parameters as follows:
    • If someone is in or not in a list > is in > Dataships Marketable Email (Single Opt In)
    • OR
    • If someone is in or not in a list > is in > Dataships Marketable Email (Double Opt In)
  5. After setting these parameters, click on Create Segment.

Set up New Welcome Series Flow (from Scratch)

If you do not have an existing Welcome Series that you want to copy then follow these steps to set up from scratch:

  1. Navigate to the Flows tab.
  2. Click on Create Flow.
  3. Click on Create From Scratch in the top right.
  4. Enter a name for your flow and click on Create Flow.
  5. In the Trigger Setup sidebar, click on Segment.
  6. In the dropdown menu, select the name of the segment you just created.

Set up New Welcome Series Flow by Cloning an Existing Flow

If you prefer to clone an existing flow instead of creating a new one from scratch, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Flows tab.
  2. Find the Welcome Series flow you would like to copy and click on the 3-dot menu.
  3. Select Clone.
  4. Enter a new Name for the flow and select your new segment as the Trigger.
  5. Click on Clone Flow.

If you currently have contacts in your existing Welcome Series flow, you might want to let them finish before turning it off or deleting. To stop new contacts from entering, you could add a Flow Filter.
